    I finally received my cameo and was excited to start cutting but i've met several problems.

    Firstly, the mat is so sticky that my paper curls once I remove it from the mat. Also, it makes removing intricate shapes realllyyy hard and I end up tearing the pieces :( I've tried the t-shirt method to try to 'de-sticky' it but it didn't really work. Any suggestions?

    Secondly, I'm having trouble with the settings for paper. I'm not sure if my blade is defective but even when I use Speed 1, it tears up certain parts of the shape (like the rounded edges) when I tried to cut out a font. I'm not sure what is the problem and it's getting frustrating :/

    Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

    Im not sure with the next part as i have not had that happen, maybe swith the speed, i always had mine set at 3 i think it was on the SD

    @Silja,
    I have found that with the more delicate lettering you need to make sure you have the correct blade for the correct weight of paper (ex: heavy card stock-pink tip I believe) and then slow down the cutting speed helps. I think others have posted here that they double cut (although I think that wears out your cutting mat faster). I have found, and prefer, to just use the blade that cuts for a heavier paper and to slow the speed down to 3 or 5. Seeing as how you posted you slowed the speed wayyy down, I'm thinking it's your blade tip that is causing the problem. What type of paper were you attempting to cut? If you cut with yellow tip, perhaps try pink.

    I know from the silhouette message board that there have been some defective blades out there. Give them a call and they probably will replace it.

    I pat the new mat on my jeans. It removes some stick, but not too much, and is super quick! Silly, but it works!

    It will eventually unstick. I use speed 3 thickness 3 for EVERYTHING and it has always worked for me. Good luck. I found that trial and error were the best ways to figure mine out. I do not change the thickness every time.

    Okay I have the SD and my issue is my mat was too sticky so yes, I have paper bits and things stuck to it.

    I've not mastered the cutting process but the mat seems ruined. I can't get the stuff off. I ordered a new mat and blade when they had their sale but I'm trying to get what I can out of this. Is there a way to clean the mat?

    I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but one of the best ways to clean the little bits of paper off your mat is with a sticky lint roller. I get mine at Target, and when the mat gets dirty just run the roll over the mat and all the 'bits' come off. I clean my mat after every other use.

    I clean my mat with a baby wipe after I am done cutting for the day. Let it dry, then put the cover piece on it. I did this with my Cricut mats, and they stayed good for a long, long time! When they finally lost their sticky, I applied more sticky with a Zig wide glue pen. Let it dry and voila!

    As far as the blade on the Cameo, yes, there have been a lot of issues with it, according to the Sil message boards. I finally put mine on 3 and cut everything with that setting! You may also want to take the blade out, blow in it, or use something to get any little bits of paper that may be stuck in there.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi everyone, thanks for all your suggestions and input! I have learnt to 'know' my cameo better and the mat isnt as sticky anymore so the paper curling issue is solved as long as I dont use paper that are too thin. I believe the type of paper that I first used was the issue, also i was cutting very intricate designs (ambitious i know :p)

    Meanwhile I guess trial and error and learning how the machine works with my materials is the way to go. Hope everyone's well and happy cutting away :)
