I received my kit today, and I've purchased the class, but I'm not big on mini-albums/altered book and was thinking I might just treat the kit as a kit and make layouts? Anyone else?
I actually bought 2 kits because I want to do the book as the class and it will be for me to keep.
And, I already started a book with the other kit. I'm making a journal with it for work. I have the ladies at work on board with me and we are writing all the funny things that happen at work. We need something to lighten the mood there and this is working out great. There are so many hectic and urgent things happening in the hospital that we just need something lighthearted. Everyone loves reading it and adding to it. In 3 days we have filled about 6 pages with silly stories. I prepped the pages at home and everyone is helping write out stories. We aren't using any patient names so as to follow HIPPA rules, but we have some really funny anecdotes. Ex... one patient looking for her glasses that were on her face! Another patient asked for her baby to go to the infirmary... I believe she meant nursery... haha! Any way, we are having fun with it!
I love mini books. My issue is the used book itself. I know I am going to sound like a total OCD freak, but I do not like used books as I don't know where they have been or more specifically, where the former owner's hands have been. My concern is that if I use the one in the kit, I will not enjoy it because I will feel the need to immediately wash my hands as soon as I look at it. I am thinking of using one of the hardbacks that I purchased firsthand. In my own mind, I can believe I am the only person who has ever touched it. My husband thinks I am totally insane...can't be helped :-)
Sadden to see that the kit has sold out; I have been watching it and hoping it would still be available tomorrow so I could purchase. It's totally adorable and pretty and cute and lovely and everything perfect all tucked into one little kit. It's not something I would normally purchase with the pinks, but this one was just perfect to me and I wanted it. Still may purchase the class as I think it may help me start scrapping again. At it wouldn't hurt to learn a thing or two.
Margrethe-I think it's a great idea of using it for layouts since you don't like the alterd book/mini book idea of it.
Maria-We don't go to libraries for the same reason of me being obsessive about who has touched them etc especially with little kid books. For some reason though the thought of a vintage book makes my heart happy. Probably because I picture the previous (one owner-yeah that happens right?!) as a lovely old lady who was just like my grandma and suddenly it makes it all ok. Weird I know so, I don't think you are totally insane! :)
maria... i dont go to libraries because i dont know who has used the book before me and where it has been! it is totally the ocd in me :) but like breann for some strange reason i dont have as much problem with the vintage book... odd i know?! haha
and i bought 3 kits... sorry, please dont shoot me! 1 for me and 2 for my girls as birthday gifts... i am going to print out in colour maggies pdf and put it in their birthday boxes!
breann... i took my daughter to the hospital today to have her cast today and as we were coming home i said to here how i hoped my box in it's sack was on the porch... sc of course! because it makes me so happy every month!! she laughed and said i can give her a sc kit for her birthday!! lol... so i know she will really love this :) she is going to be 13, so keen! ha
I'm OCD like - I can't use the book because it's a... book! Poor book! This OCD-like tendency to not ruin books does well to explain why our apartment has several hundred books in it and why it'll be a nightmare to move...
margrethe.. i have gone to a kindle!! it is very freeing :) i now hvae over a a hundred books on it and it weighs nothing! lol saves lugging around books and storing them!! haha

(LOVE the kit!)
I'm waiting to see the class materials before I make a decision - I'll either use an actual book or some type of mini album.
